July 3, 2023Updated DEA Guidelines and CME Procedures’ New Series
In recent news, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has released an update on an important new requirement for healthcare providers. Beginning at the end of June 2023, there is a one-time requirement for all providers to complete eight hours of training on the treatment and management of patients with opioid or other substance use disorders (SUDs).
In response to this directive, CME Procedures has developed a new series of educational materials, titled “Pharmacology Focus: Substance Abuse and Toxicology“. This series not only satisfies this DEA requirement but also provides an opportunity for providers to accrue additional Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits.
CME Procedures’ Pharmacology Focus Series – A Detailed Overview
Our Pharmacology Focus series is a comprehensive educational program that not only caters to the DEA’s new guidelines but also offers insightful modules on Cardiology and Antibiotics. Specifically, the Substance Abuse and Toxicology course tackles essential topics like toxicology, approach to a poisoned patient, antidotes, alcohol withdrawal, opioid abuse, and acetaminophen overdose.
By engaging with these courses, providers can exceed the DEA’s continuing education requirements for obtaining or renewing their DEA certification. CME Procedures designates this activity for a maximum of 16 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)TM, which includes 14 hours of Pharmacology, and 10 hours of Treatment and Management of Patients with Substance Use Disorders.
